Most American car license plates are attached to the vehicle with coarse threaded fasteners that screw into plastic mounts. Most Foreign vehicle tags are attached with finer threaded bolts that screw into metal. Since the original equipment bolts are often inexpensive pieces, they begin to rust in place after a few years and can be difficult to remove. It is wise to replace these inexpensive screws with something better before it is too late.

Our license plate bolt sets are made of stainless steel to eliminate rust forever. The Phillips head style bolts can be installed with a very common Phillips head (+) screwdriver. This kit includes four stainless steel washers to help cover elongated holes in license plates.

If your license plate fasteners thread into metal, then this kit is probably what you need. If your screws thread into either plastic or vinyl, then these bolts probably will NOT work for you.

You may think that you can locate license plate bolts locally and that may be true. However, metric threaded stainless steel bolts are not easy to find and certainly not cheap.
